As the Design Director for ladies fashion you will be responsible for leading a team of designers to design and develop commercial ladies fashion garments
You will provide seasonal direction across all the ladies fashion categories that commercially reflect market trends in styles and fabrics
Plan ranges and work to achieve the requirements of the different retailers
Keep ahead of new market trends in different countries and source and develop fabrics with the in house team
Manage the garment fittings
Oversee the product engineering and costing.
Visit factories and attend trade shows
Manage from concept to sampling
Ensure quality standards are achieved
The Design Director of Ladies Fashion will need to have gained considerable experience of managing and developing the skills of creative designers. You will need to be accustomed to working for a retailer or private label supplier and have worked within the mass market where price points are as important as style.
The ability to lead and be hands on is important and you will need considerable experience with woven lifestyle merchandise
